Grants Ontario

Grants Ontario supports the findings of the 2011 Partnership Project report where non profit organizations asked the Ontario Government to ‘... institute standardized application forms, timelines accountability and reporting requirements across ministries by moving as much as possible online.’

Grants Ontario’s automated features will relieve program staff and grant applicants of the burden of repeated manual input of information.

In addition to eliminating data entry for on-line submissions, Grants Ontario includes workflow and forms customized to the needs of each grant program within a best practice framework.

Grants Ontario was designed as an Ontario Government-wide system and will accommodate more grant and transfer payments in the future.

Faster and easier application process

Grants Ontario makes finding and applying for a grant faster and easier.

The Grants Ontario web portal will provide information about all grants available though the following ministries: Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration, Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (Health Promotion), and Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport.

Grant applicants will also now have a one window link to all  Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration, and Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport programs to draft and submit grant applications, check application status and manage reports.

Organization staff that are registered in Grants Ontario will have the ability to work independently on the same grant application.

The new system will automatically record and keep key applicant contact details such as name, address and title, which will help reduce the amount of time spent on submitting applications. The addition of on-line report filing will further reduce workload and demonstrates a commitment to a cleaner environment. Payments to successful applicants will also be streamlined.

Online modules and quick reference guides will support applicants as they move through the site, and technical support will be available during regular business hours.

Information security

Grants Ontario is a secure system that can only be accessed via the Government of Ontario’s encrypted ONe key log-in system. Until data is submitted to Grants Ontario, only the applicant will see it.

How to prepare for Grants Ontario

In late 2011 ministry staff will contact current grant applicants to help them register and transition to the new system. At that time, current grant applicants will also learn how to manage applications that are in progress or will be in progress when Grants Ontario goes live in January, 2012.

When current applicants have registered for Grants Ontario, they will be able to apply for future grants.

New applicants will register and apply directly on-line for grants.

How to find out more about Grants Ontario?
