Michael Chan was elected to the Ontario Legislature to represent the people of Markham-Unionville in a by-election in 2007, and was successfully re-elected in 2007 and 2011. He is currently serving as Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport, and is also the Minister Responsible for the 2015 Pan/Parapan American Games.
During his tenure at Queen’s Park, Michael has also served the province as Minister of Revenue and Minister of Citizenship and Immigration.
Prior to embarking on his political career, Michael owned and operated a successful insurance brokerage firm, giving him the experience and expertise necessary to understand the needs of a strong and vibrant economy.
Emigrating from Hong Kong over 40 years ago, Michael along with his wife Elaine and their two sons have proudly called Markham their home since 1995.
